Seg\u00fan datos de 2018 de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, el 43 % de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial mayor de 15 a\u00f1os (2,35 millones de personas) hab\u00eda consumido alcohol durante los 12 meses anteriores (bebedores actuales, ver Nota 1), una ligera reducci\u00f3n desde 2010 (45,5%).\u00a0Las regiones con la mayor proporci\u00f3n de bebedores fueron Europa (59,9%), las Am\u00e9ricas (54,1%) y el Pac\u00edfico Occidental (53,8%).\u00a0El consumo anual de alcohol per c\u00e1pita (ver Nota 2) a nivel mundial fue de 15,1 litros, equivalente a 32,8 gramos diarios de alcohol puro.\u00a0Las bebidas mixtas fueron las m\u00e1s preferidas (44,8 %), seguidas de la cerveza (34,3 %).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"595\" height=\"334\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lafuente.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/alcohol-getty.webp?resize=595%2C334\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lafuente.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/alcohol-getty.webp?w=595&amp;ssl=1 595w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lafuente.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/alcohol-getty.webp?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los datos tambi\u00e9n mostraron que el 39,5 % de los bebedores actuales hab\u00edan bebido en exceso (ver Nota 3) al menos una vez en el \u00faltimo mes.\u00a0Entre los j\u00f3venes, el 26,5% de los de 15 a 19 a\u00f1os eran bebedores actuales y el 45.\u00a0El 7 % hab\u00eda consumido alcohol en exceso, mientras que entre los 20 y los 24 a\u00f1os, el 40,7 % eran bebedores actuales y el 48,5 % hab\u00eda bebido en exceso (OMS, 2018).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En Am\u00e9rica Latina, la prevalencia del consumo de alcohol en el mes anterior entre personas de 12 a 65 a\u00f1os fue m\u00e1s alta en Argentina y Uruguay (52 %), mientras que las tasas m\u00e1s bajas se dieron en El Salvador (9,5 %) y Ecuador (13 %).\u00a0El grupo de edad de 18 a 34 a\u00f1os tuvo el nivel m\u00e1s alto de consumo, que va desde alrededor del 10 % en El Salvador hasta el 60 % en Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay y EE. UU. (CICAD y OEA, 2019).\u00a0En estudios de estudiantes de los grados 8 a 12, el consumo de alcohol en el mes anterior oscil\u00f3 entre 10% en El Salvador y 50% en Argentina, con tarifas similares para ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as.\u00a0En esta poblaci\u00f3n,\u00a0Los atracones de bebida en las \u00faltimas dos semanas oscilaron entre el 48 % en Argentina y casi el 70 % en Belice y Uruguay, y estas tasas fueron mayores en los ni\u00f1os.\u00a0Cabe destacar que el consumo de alcohol en esta poblaci\u00f3n fue mayor para los estudiantes de mayor edad (CICAD &amp;
